Brooks Brothers hosted the New York debut of 500 Days of Summer. A fashionable Cinema Society crowd, including novelist Jill Kargman, Vogue contributing editor Kathryn Neale Shaffer, and designer Rachel Roy, who is set to debut her moderately-priced Rachel by Rachel Roy collection at Macy’s next month, were treated to the Zooey Deschanel-flick at the Tribeca Grand Hotel, with cocktails following at the nearby Soho Grand.

Young socialite Bee Shaffer is back in Manhattan after an extended stay in Italy. Following her graduation from Columbia University, she left for Venice in early June and last week, was a special guest of Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCullough at their Proenza Schouler spring 2010 presentation in Florence. Long thought to follow in the footsteps of her mother, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, as a fashion journalist, she has instead set her professional sights for the stage as a theatrical producer.

Actress Kate Mara, heiress to the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers professional sports franchises, has joined the cast of Iron Man 2 and will portray a love interest of the main character. The Open Road, a film she stars in alongside Justin Timberlake, is set for wide release in early September.

Fellow thespian Tarajia Morrell was last seen on-screen in the horror-thriller The Lodger. Last year, the scion of the Morrell & Co. winery family made a guest appearance on the ABC Family television show “Greek,” which stars Spencer Grammer, the ever-chic daughter of comedian Kelsey Grammer.

Park Avenue princess Tinsley Mortimer hosted a cocktail party in celebration of American Independence Day at the Samantha Thavasa boutique on Madison Avenue. She is the designer of their Samantha Thavasa by Tinsley Mortimer handbags line and Riccimie New York clothing collection. Supporters of the fashion entrepreneur such as Jules Kirby, Liz Lind, and banking heiress Asia Baker flocked to the Upper East Side for a champagne toast with Q in honor of the country’s founders, which include the Virginia-born beauty’s ancestors Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison.

Tinsley has been thought to have separated from her husband, Topper Mortimer, last summer. This past April, Tinsley filed for divorce from him after seven years of marriage. The two first met as students at the Lawrenceville School and spent the past seventeen years together as a couple.

The Manhattan socialite is recently rumored to be seeing the London-based merchant banker Casimir Prinz zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, a member of the princely family of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, the centuries-old owners of Sayn Castle and Sayn Palace near Koblenz in Germany’s Rhineland. He is the son of Alexander, seventh Prince zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn. Through his mother, Casimir is a great-grandson of Franz Joseph, ninth Prince von Thurn und Taxis; a great-great-grandson of King Miguel I of Portugal; and a descendant of Leopold II, Holy Roman Emperor as well as King Carlos III of Spain and Louis-Philippe d’Orléans, King of the French.

As the U.S. ambassador of Dior Beauty, Tinsley will attend John Galliano’s Christian Dior presentation on July 6 in Paris.

The Whitney Contemporaries, the junior fundraising group of the Whitney Museum of Modern Art, held their annual art party and auction at Skylight Studios. The evening exclusively benefited the New York institution’s independent study program, which supports fourteen artists every year.

Dior Beauty ambassador Tinsley Mortimer is back in New York after touring Europe with her sister, Dabney Mercer. As part of their travels, the two blondes also carved out some time at Walt Disney World in Orlando, just a few hours away from Palm Beach, where their parents maintain residences.

Tinsley, a close friend of Marine Azria, was dressed by the night’s underwriters, BCBG Max Azria, as were Byrdie Bell, Fabiola Beracasa, and Zani Gugelmann. The socialites all had their hair and makeup done together by Ric Pipino and Alexa Rodulfo, respectively, before the party.

Real estate executive Ivanka Trump has committed to sharing her expertise in property development as the keynote speaker of several business conventions this summer. She is currently in the midst of helping her brother, Donald Trump Jr., and his wife, Vanessa, transition into their new apartment at The Sovereign in Sutton Place, a city supplement to their estate in upstate Bedford. Ivanka’s long-term boyfriend, Jared Kushner, is launching a magazine, through his Observer Media Group, aimed at young society mothers at the start of fall.
