Tinsley Avenue April 7, 2009

Designer Tinsley Mortimer was Avenue’s March cover girl. (Click on the above images for larger scans.) In her profile, Tinsley announced plans of starting a family with her husband of seven years, hedge fund executive Topper Mortimer. The two met as students at the Lawrenceville School and have been together for more than sixteen years.
The blonde, Richmond-born beauty explained her family’s names in the article. Topper’s nickname was derived from his paternal grandfather, athlete and Standard Oil heir Stanley Grafton Mortimer, who was called “The Top.” Tinsley herself was named in honor of her great-great-grandfather, James Garland Tinsley, and said that it was a Virginian tradition to name children after notable ancestors.
The Avenue profile concluded with an analysis of Tinsley’s celebrity, next to a picture of the socialite in a robe from her husband’s 4/20 bachelor party. Vogue’s Billy Norwich likened Tinsley to a modern-day C.Z. Guest and her brother-in-law Peter Davis, of Paper, declared Tinsley a bonafide star.

tinsley is so, so beautiful. love this girl <3
These pictures are really pretty! Tinsley is just flawless on the cover.
very cute… this is the best i have ever seen “the tins” look… she looks as comfortable in satin pyjamas as she does in latex leggings.
This is my favorite Tinsley photoshoot.
She looks great. Elegant, fresh, and sweet.
Tinsley is so pretty. She looks like a doll.
I have to admit, at first I didn’t get all the buzz-hype over Tinsley…but girlfriend slowly grew on me!! If anything, i admire people who are good at what they do. Would love to get an issue!!!
I agree with Eleanor Y! I think that is what is so refreshing about Tinsley… she’s not a New York girl and you can tell by her behavior and attitude. She’s sweet and friendly. I guess it also helps that she’s pretty and married to Topper! Good to hear they are starting a family too.
I think Tinsely has come into herself. She has survived so much scorching criticism and many ridiculous rumors and done so in such a lady-like fashion. She has matured into a truly lovely woman. Keep up the good work, Tins!
The Tins is adorable. The very picture of a modern American socialite. Wish her and the hubby much success in creating “The Top” 3.0!
J’adore Tinsley Mortimer! Sweet girl, beautiful features, and clearly a lovely demeanor.
