Hot on the heels of her appearance on Access Hollywood, Tinsley Mortimer was interviewed by CNBC’s Wendy Furrer for the cable channel’s “High Net Worth” program. The video includes Tinsley at a fundraiser for New Yorkers for Children, being shot for a fashion editorial in V magazine, and greeting John Galliano, the head designer of Christian Dior. It also includes footage from her flagship Riccimie by Tinsley Mortimer boutique opening in Japan and from the launch of her Tinsley Pink lip gloss for Dior Beauty at Saks Fifth Avenue, where she facilitated master make-up classes with groups of New York women.

1. Cate - July 15, 2008

Gotta love the Tins! She deserves every one of her successes.

2. brigitte - July 15, 2008

she is so pretty. love dior and love tinsley!

3. NYC - July 15, 2008

Who does her hair color?

4. Savannah - July 15, 2008

Good for her! Looks like she’s having a lot of fun!

5. Parker - July 15, 2008

Love her. Love that Dior dress on her it is perfect.

6. Virginian2 - July 15, 2008

You’ve got to give this girl some credit regardless of what you think about her. She’s smart and knows what she’s doing. This is probably just the beginning….good for her.

7. LC - July 15, 2008

She’s a doll. She took this “socialite” thing and totally ran with it. I have a feeling this is just the beginning for her, too. She’s beautiful and… one last thing, if I had access to all that Christian Dior like her, I wouldn’t even know what to do!

8. SuSu - July 15, 2008

Verrrry smart cookie and beautiful to boot!

9. UESgirl - July 15, 2008

let the ridiculousness start…

10. UESgirl - July 15, 2008

Saw the lawsuit stuff betwen Majorie Gubelmann and David benedict ..interesting…

11. Virginian2 - July 15, 2008

Has anyone actually tried the Tinsley Pink Gloss? Is it ridiculously shiny?

12. HHH - July 15, 2008

I have no idea how any of you can call her smart. I could not believe how inane her comments and answers were. It was ridiculous. She didn’t say one insightful or intelligent thing. Shopping, a little traveling, I’m a leo???? Please.

It’s better if she just smiles for the camera and keeps moving.

13. Amen - July 15, 2008

What’s up with B&B Investment- they must think very highly of her….she needs to provide “lifestyle branding” for a condo ??
Its one thing for makeup and accessories to “leverage synergy” with her, but this real estate thing just mystifies me. Perhaps Dale’s doing ?

14. Brooke - July 15, 2008

She is darn cute has obviously captured an audience - but I’d rather watch paint dry vs listening/reading her interviews - HHH I agree with you 100%

15. Calloway - July 15, 2008

There’s a big difference between shrewd and smart. Let us not confuse the two.

16. xtina in chi - July 15, 2008

It’s sentences like “launch of her Tinsley Pink lip gloss” that make her the most Socialtastic Superhero.

Go Tinz.

17. xtina in chi - July 15, 2008

HHH, you’re right, but you come to love her for it.

Ridiculously girly,so many little cliches, the voice, you name it. But she goes with it. Tinsley is real. There’s a reason so many people take to her. Not to mention her POP quality.

18. big bird rules - July 15, 2008

There’s no denying she’s super cute and extremely charming. She has totally grown on me, although I was never a “hater” and still not a huge fan. I admire her savvy and her ambition. I find priviledged people who are content to do nothing soo boring.

19. Old Friend - July 15, 2008

How can anyone not think Tinsley is smart?! She has taken the socialite thing and made it into three businesses so far. Don’t you people get it? Just why would someone without any intelligence be able to accomplish all she does? She is one smart and savvy person and the fact that some of you want to denigrate her says it all. We wouldn’t even be discussing her if she hadn’t already made a name for herself. And to “Amen” just what would make you think Dale had anything to do with Tinsley and the B&B Investment thing? She is busy getting her Masters at Harvard right now and running her own design business. The only thing Tinsley gets from her mother is her drive, her artistic abilities, hard work ethic, and attention to detail. She works very hard for anything that comes her way and people know this so it is no wonder she gets offers to design and put her stamp on things. And yes, I am an old friend, but I am absolutely not her mother. Tinsley is the most down to earth person I know with the ability to laugh at herself and just enjoy her life to the fullest. She is so much fun to be with and draws many to her.

20. UESgirl - July 15, 2008

#19.. Somehow you make Dale sound like a stage mother like Patricia Ramsey except Tinsley did not end up like JonBenent

21. Brooke - July 15, 2008

The Masters at Harvard getting “old” let it go….most said TM is fine - do we have to blow sunshine up her A$#????

22. elle - July 15, 2008

Even with nepotism, a stupid girl wouldn’t wind up at Columbia and succeed.

23. Brooke - July 15, 2008

#22 agree - but don’t we all have friends grads of top notchers and we say “what a ditz, can she add and/or subtract? (is that cab going uptown or downtown giggle)” TM has done a great job of marketing herself - congrats -

24. SuSu - July 15, 2008

Thank you #19 - so glad someone on this board understands her and her background and what makes her so successful - hard work, top-flight abilities, great charm and great connections (which we cannot deny) have all made her successful. All the best to her and may she be an example to all that follow!

Howvever, we won’t mention lots of s**t from the dummies on this board, will we? It is so wonderful to beat them up!!!

25. SuSu - July 15, 2008

#23 - give it up. Please.

26. Brooke - July 15, 2008

#25 MOOOOO MOOOOO you give it up - who the hell are you??? we do not have to understand HER nor her background - this is a board where we all give opinons and your opinion is “suspicious?” are you “diddling” George M???

27. SuSu - July 15, 2008

You are beyond vulgar.

28. Tins Fan - July 15, 2008

You have to hand it to her. She’s the only socialite who has actually done something with all of this attention. What’s the point of being criticized by random people like “HHH” if you’re not going to turn all the jealousy, mean gossip and comments into something positive? She has done just that and has been extremely successful with it all.

And about her intelligence… name me ONE girl who has done what Tinsley has with this “socialite” thing. How many have successfully turned this into something long-term and an actual career that pays?

29. Amen - July 15, 2008

Never heard anything about Tinz having any background in design, furnishings, or anything that would make a condo developer feel her taste would have any marketability. Figured it was one of Mommy’s friends, but I’m just speculating……I’m putting the question to the whole group, perhaps I overlooked some great accomplishment of hers…..

30. jarret - July 15, 2008

Is she even that “high net worth”? My guess is, probably not. If she were really rich, she wouldn’t hustle the way she does.

31. Calloway - July 15, 2008

As for Columbia, she got in as a transfer student, which is easier, plus she had the tennis and geographical distribution advantage. That said, at least she cared enough to get a top education and consider that important, unlike the Byrdies of this world.

Old friend, you are confusing smart with shrewd/savvy. We have seen much evidence of the latter, but not the former, sorry to say. She is nice, has good values in that she considers education and hard work important, and she definitely knows what she wants and how to get it, but….inherently intelligent? Absolutely not. And she still needs to work on her media skills because as HHH says she comes across as a vapid valley girl. NEVER mention your astrological sign in an interview…that’s a start! Even I would know that!

32. UES - July 16, 2008

Calloway, it is much harder to get into any school as a transfer student. Also, Tinsley did not apply as a transfer student… she applied as a first-time freshman. She left UNC after only a few weeks and did not accumulate any credit hours there, therefore, she had nothing to even “transfer”!

Tinsley did not play tennis for Columbia, so she was not an athletic recruit. She was, however, exceptional at the sport, so much that she was scouted by Andre Agassi’s own coach and taught at his private academy for years. Most Ivy Leagues like their classes filled with exceptional young people like that, wouldn’t you agree?

33. olive - July 16, 2008

I think she does look like JonBenet Ramsey- just with longer tendrils and more subdued makeup. Not a reach by any means!
Columbia: Nepotism/ transfer studen. Oh please, that is not even worth mentioning.
Old Friend, the Japanese love her because the Japanese always love bubble gum blonde Americans who wear incessant pink and dress like they are 15. >>Hence, Tinsley love.

Watching all this just makes me loathe her plastic, faux, cheesy, underbite’d face and awful demeanor even more.

34. YmC - July 16, 2008

who is George M?

35. Calloway - July 16, 2008

Whether or not Tinsley was technically a transfer student or not, I don’t have access to her records, there is no question that it is easier to get in as a transfer student. I know many, many cases of people who transferred to ivy or ivy type schools who did not have a prayer of getting in the first time around.

I was aware that she dropped playing tennis at some point in college, not sure when. Even so, anyone who was ranked and is that good, well, colleges love that (especially a place like Columbia, not exactly known for it’s athletic prowess), it makes for a very “well rounded” application. As you said yourself, who wouldn’t want someone like that?

36. Jazzymilan - July 16, 2008

ugh, she’s like 33 and wants to be famous so badly as a “”"socialite”"” who wears pink all the time…

37. sigh - July 16, 2008

Right on, #30!

38. Virginian2 - July 16, 2008

Although I know of the Mercer family, I don’t personally know any of them and certainly not Tinsley or Topper. So, this comment isn’t specifically about them, but it’s possible y’all are overlooking one aspect of this woman.

One of the things I’ve noticed in Richmond and other parts of the south is that a lot of men are attracted to fluffy “dumb” women. These women are far from dumb & I don’t understand how they grow up knowing how to do this, but they sort of give off the “oh I’m so helpless and I just want to curl my hair and wear pretty dresses” that appeals to a certain type of male ego. These women know exactly how to get what they want; they are usually smart, savvy, ambitious and shouldn’t be underestimated.

I suspect Tinsley is smart enough to know and understand that being kind, having good manners, and staying focused on what you want will get you to where you want to be. Y’all can say all you want about what a ditz she is, etc., but so what? She’s doing what she wants to do, she’s successful and creating a “brand”. Bet she’ll be around a lot longer than some of these other women.

39. St Mark's - July 16, 2008

“Hedge fund MANAGER” husband? Yeah right. He works at a hedge fund but is hardly a big guy at Guggenheim. Just another example of her people making something out of nothing.

40. b.SL - July 16, 2008

Some people are haters, but if you’re ot doing anything until someone pisses on it, right?

Most of the socialites would KILL to have her life and influence. She’s adorable, and I love that keeps her family (sister Dabney) and friends around her. She’s an adorable girl, and obviously very intelligent. Most admirable, she makes it look easy. I didn’t understand the hype for a while, but I get it now. Good for her!

41. elle - July 16, 2008

UES you don’t know what you are talking about. Transferring is the absolute easiest way to get into a school. And I am not so sure about the early transfer you are talking about because schools like Columbia don’t typically do that sort of thing.

That being said, she still went to Columbia..how many of you could get in?

42. 74th - July 16, 2008

I have generally always liked the idea of Tinsley, and while she may not be “intellectual” I doubt she is stupid. In the end, I can’t see how being incredibly smart would have been more beneficial than her apparent drive, business sense, and focus. Although I don’t aspire to be her, I do aspire to carve out a path of my own, specific to my personality, and she has definitely done that, so good for her.

On a snarkier note (which really has nothing to do with her), I am surprised no one has pointed out that during Topper’s segment the bottom of the screen advertised the next segment which was something like “How to land a millionaire”?

43. elle - July 16, 2008

hahaha “Fishing for a Millionaire”

44. Virginian2 - July 16, 2008

Maybe some of the criticism (sour grapes) directed toward women like Tinsley should be directed at the (mostly) men who hire and promote them.

45. elle - July 16, 2008

tell it to CNBC, sista.

46. LondonBaby - July 16, 2008

I know many of the New York socialites, and I can tell you that not all have a dream of becoming a celebrity as a 33-year-old fake blonde socialite who wears pink dresses and design the hangbags….
Tinsley may be one of the most known socialites around here, but every other socialite can become as known as Tinzz if they hire good persons and attend to every party.
Real socialites dont really care about Tinsley.. She’s a real social climber and attention whore. She’s not high society.

47. Dallas - July 16, 2008

The managing editor of the entire CNBC franchise is hosting this. They really must think she is a Big Thing… which she is! Go Tinsley. Show them what it means to be a good girl, one that works hard and follows her dreams.

48. ASG - July 16, 2008

Agree with prior comments. Tinz is not well spoken and she comes off as a bit of an airhead. I wish she didn’t b/c then I would be absolutely blown over with her. But, I still like to see what she’s wearing and what’s she’s up to so she must be doing something right!

49. Curious - July 16, 2008

Realistically she is selling lip gloss, handbags, and herself as a brand? I think what she is saying is perfectly appropriate for that- what do you expect, a physics lecture?

50. Tiffany - July 16, 2008

Give me Ivanka any day. Brains, beauty and class. Did you see the gorgeous photos of her in Town & Country this month? Stunning.

51. jarret - July 16, 2008

She got into Columbia …. in like 1994 or ‘95. It was way easier in the early and mid ’90s than it is now. A girl from the South with decent grades (and tennis, right?) who could pay tuition would definitely have had a shot then. The Ivies didn’t become limited to academic “stars” until some years later. Anyway, it is not Columbia’s fault. They could hardly have foreseen this.

52. Virginian2 - July 16, 2008

#50. Somthing I never understood about Ivanka - with the “brains, beauty, and class”, why the need for the big fake boobs? Aren’t brains, beauty and class enough for NY society?

53. YmC - July 16, 2008

Virginian2 totally agree with you. It is so tacky that she got those melons.

54. Calloway - July 16, 2008

Agree with you Virginian#2, about both your Southern post (they are trained that way) and the Ivanka post!

55. Virginian2 - July 16, 2008

Well, maybe Ivanka’s boobs serve the same purpose as Tinsley’s fluffy, vapid, pinky personality. They both lull men into doing whatever it is the ladies want done for them.

Never underestimate the stupidity of men around feminine women.

56. Reba - July 16, 2008

Tinsley is the girliest person I have ever met/seen. You can’t ever TRY and be more feminine than her.

57. Savannah - July 16, 2008

I highly recommend the gloss. It is a bubble pink color but only in the tube. When you put it on it has a very soft, shimmery not-too-pink color. I like it.

It is definitely easier to transfer into any school that be accepted as a first year student.

Tinsley is a great example of the post-feminist era, I think. She definitely will be when/if she has children. She’s made a name for herself (and no, I’m not talking about using the Mortimer name. Look at her- she’s attractive, carries herself well, obviously people like her- she could be exactly where she using Mercer) but she launched a career while embracing her femininity. In fact, it’s because she embraces it that she gets the attention and offers. That is her career. She also seems to care about her family and balances it gracefully.

But, who knows? The only thing I really know about is the gloss. :)

58. HHH - July 16, 2008

Savannah, she is where she is because of the Mortimer name. NOT the Mercer name. She would be a nobody if she hadn’t married Topper Mortimer. That is a fact. The girl can’t communicate even one intelligent thought. She just looks good and that is because she dropped a lot of weight, dyes her hair very blonde and wears a TON of makeup.

Oh, and she buys a lot of clothes, shoes and bags. AND she is a LEO!!!

59. Virginian2 - July 16, 2008

HHH, how do you absolutely, positively know she can’t communicate one intelligent thought? Maybe this is just the persona. It doesn’t matter how she got into Columbia; is it possible to graduate from Columbia, and do some of the things she’s done if she can’t communicate?

I agree with you that she sounds a little, um, shallow or dim, in these interviews but again, that’s probably pretty smart because a lot of men fall for that. She’s just a pretty, sweet little girl - not threatening or emasculating. That’s the whole point; don’t you see?

60. Kate - July 16, 2008

HHH is so jealous of Tinsley it is sad. I remember in two different posts she has written about how hot Topper is and how she wants him. Now she is trashing his wife on a public forum…

61. Virginian2 - July 16, 2008

How can anyone named Topper be hot? I mean, unless the Topper in question is 14 years old and the girl who think he’s hot is 13?

62. HHH - July 16, 2008

Kate, dear, what exactly is there to be jealous of? She is like a cartoon character. And yes, Topper is far more interesting than Tinz since he isn’t a social climber.

Go back to your Tinsley Fan Club meeting.

63. elle - July 16, 2008

on the issue of femininity, since when is it wrong for men to be attracted to it..they’re supposed to be! that’s how we were created.

on the issue of ivanka..she is ugly, and if anyone has ever ridden on family coattails it would be her. I am not saying that she isn’t smart or well educated, she went to the best schools money could buy. if she weren’t trump’s daughter (who by the way is one of the most distasteful and disgraceful people in ny society and arguably the world) the only way she would have been hired by him would be because of the fake boobs.

64. Voguette - July 16, 2008

Anyone else seen the Dior ad in Vogue this month with Tins Fabs and Dabs? It’s kind of scary to see that many bad nose jobs all in one picture!

65. ADKpersephone - July 16, 2008

“Um…I think…well, I mean…I definitely…” in a little girl voice, the lollipop voice that we heard on Cityfile’s answering machine post recently. Her tight-throated speech style is like a typo on an otherwise strong resume. But maybe I am just jealous.

66. ADKpersephone - July 16, 2008

Please allow me to clarify: it is her vast financial resources of which I am jealous, not her life choices or her persona. I like being a farmer in the wilderness very much, thank you.

67. jarret - July 16, 2008

Plenty of geniuses have failed out of Columbia or gone to crappy schools; plenty of idiot losers have Ivy undergrad degrees.

Tinsley Mortimer probably became a fame whore because she can most likely easily outspend her husband’s salary and because she wants free accessories, clothes and jewelry, plus a few dumb gigs like “Lifestyle ambassador,” to enable her shopping addiction. Plus she must be one of those women who is a bottomless pit for attention, generally.

68. imo - July 16, 2008

#67 jarret, completely agree with you. Brooke you make make my day…..like a nice cold g&t at the end of a long day.

69. Amen - July 16, 2008

Hi - me again,
I’m still just puzzled what any of her persona, cache, or lifestyle has marketability for “Tinsley Towers”???

I guess it will have rooftop tennis courts (logical) but then what ? A pink chintz lobby filled with ruffled daybeds…… a little manicured doggy park on the 30th floor for pampered purse pooches ……. definitely a chi chi accessories boutique that sells Japanese handbags and overpriced stilettos ……. a 24-hour car service to Bungalow 8 and other hot spots………

You see where I’m going with this,

now, the Ivanka-brand luxury condo towers I can understand.

70. Brooke - July 16, 2008

We are blabbing about her - doesn’t mean we agree or disageee (MOOOOO MOOOOO) just so interesting to follow this gal - cute, came from Richmond (southern waste land) married a dough boy - he’s HOT???? Bet he sweats - so where is her BIL fancy pants Petah???? The Mortimers???? where do Topper’s parents live in NYC???? Mama Mortimer at age 66 still working - why???

71. Grace - July 16, 2008

Topper is not a dough boy. He just has a large frame, he’s def over 6 feet tall though. He used to play hockey at Lawrenceville (if I remember correctly). Tinsley is like 5′3 without heels and is so petite/tiny. They make a cute couple in person.

Old Friend, do you know why Tinsley stopped playing tennis? From what I have heard, she seemed to be really good at it as a teenager.

Brooke, have you ever considered some people work bc they just love their job and it makes them happy??

72. xtina in chi - July 16, 2008

Yes, please don’t slate Ivanka as the Anti-Tinsley.

Hardly.

73. Brooke - July 16, 2008

#71 Ken and Barbie - cute ZZZZZZ - sooooooo Grace you remember the Top man?????

74. Amen - July 16, 2008

All I meant was Ivanka could lend meaningful branding to any hotel or development. All of Trump = quality, luxury, expensive, world-class etc. and have a history in real estate/building.

75. elle - July 16, 2008

trump is a chump. anybody remember that he has filed/been on the verge of bankruptcy like a million times. that’s a great business man.

however i do take his side on the rosie o issue of years past and the apprentice makes for pretty good entertainment.

76. Voguette - July 16, 2008

I take the Donald’s issue on the Anne Hathaway war of words. But its ridiculous to think Ivanka is some kind of role model. If my father were a Trump he could employ me too; if she were a civilivan she would have a shitty job like the rest of us. Plus, the way she pimps herself out with her breasts. She has to nerve to deny she ever had them and acts all snooty whenever someone asks about them!

77. zzzzzzz - July 17, 2008

Back to the issue at hand: bubble gum ditziness. Please. Pink utter ridiculousness please. No to Scottish-Jew velveeta businessmen.

78. Voguette - July 17, 2008

Zzzz what does your last sentence mean?

79. PansyAston - July 17, 2008

“Left UNC after a few weeks”??? Didn’t get in to Pi Phi house???

80. PansyAston - July 17, 2008

“into”!!! What happens typing on your lap at dawn!!

81. Virginian2 - July 17, 2008

Oh please, Amen. The pictures I’ve seen of the houses “the Donald” has lived in and some of the buildings are over the top tacky. They may be expensive but they all scream “new money, no taste”.

82. Parker - July 17, 2008

How much would someone in Topper’s position make? I would imagine it would vary with the state of the economy which right now is. . . .: (

83. Old Friend - July 17, 2008

Tinsley left UNC in two weeks because she didn’t want to go there in the first place. She wanted to go to Columbia and was accepted right out of Lawrenceville but then on one of her trips to New York, she was robbed right on the street and her family said she could not go there. They would have just been too worried about her. She was devistated but tried to cater to her mother and father’s wishes and went to UNC. UNC is a fine school and just as hard to get in but it just wasn’t a fit for her. Ever since she was a little girl, her mother would take Dabney and her to see the Thanksgiving Day parade every year, and she just fell in love with New York. She did not see herself going to a school like UNC. She spent that year working as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity just to do something productive while she waited out the year to get back in to Columbia. At first they were not going to let her back in because once you turn them down, they don’t want you but she really lobbied herself back in. I’m really not sure why she gave up tennis after Lawrenceville but maybe it was because she wanted to work very hard to get her education at Columbia. And to “Amen”, perhaps you didn’t see the Vanity Fair article which showed Tinsley and Topper’s apartment in New York. I would hardly call it a pink poof place. Look it up online, you can still see it. She has excellent taste and obviously someone is willing to pay for it, hence the B&B wanting her. And even if your mother is a designer, it all boils down to her final choices as to how she wanted their home to look. If she had wanted pink poof, she could have had it.

84. 74th - July 17, 2008

“All of Trump = quality, luxury, expensive, world-class etc.”
Is that sarcasm?

85. LondonBaby - July 17, 2008

^hopefully

86. Curious - July 17, 2008

Old Friend, why would a nationally ranked player, Tinsley, (and ranked at the young age of 16, mind you) otherwise quit tennis, quit Nick’s academy (the same place where Andre Agassi, Monica Seles, Jennifer Capriati, the Williams sisters, and Pete Sampras all went and graduated from) and go to an academic boarding school in New Jersey? Methinks she had an injury that made her unplayable?

87. Amen - July 17, 2008

I did see the Tinz apartment. It was traditional bordering on boring. The living room looked like it was lifted wholesale from the Frick collection, right down to the smallest tassel. And I thought the blue and white bedroom was a granny Palm Beach horror….. a big padded headboard covered in that awful Blue Willow sort of pattern. zzzzz —to #83

I’m obviously being snarky about the pink poofs, don’t you get it ?

88. xtina in chi - July 17, 2008

Trump just put his monster tower right here in Chicago with the ugly ‘world-class restaurant’ slated to open. Barf.

89. ste - July 17, 2008

I guessssss I respect the fact that she’s working, designing, putting forth her skills into society, yadda yadda. But… She’s newly into the work force regardless of her 30-something age, which to me, just sounds like she became increasingly bored and needed some new stimulus. The camera doesn’t seem to eat her up… she looks lifeless and I can’t help but look at her mouth (it moves very oddly). And I think she should change her hair a bit but now I’m just getting nit picky.

NONETHELESS damn! I wish I had that life!!!

90. Gigi - July 17, 2008

I love Tinsley. Her design eye is flawless - she’s on par with Paris but without the bad habits. She’s the next Vera Wang - Torey Burch watch out!

91. Virginian2 - July 17, 2008

Now Gigi, that’s a bit of a stretch, don’t you think? The next Vera Wang?

92. 74th - July 17, 2008

Also, “on par with Paris?”
Is it sarcasm day? When did Donald Trump and Paris Hilton become the standard bearers of style?

93. VA - July 17, 2008

Tin$ley is bright, talented and has definite high goals for herself.

Having said that, lets move on.

94. Middle America - July 17, 2008

Tinsley’s mouth moves like that of Billy Big-Mouth Bass when he sings “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.” I’m certainly not knocking her ambition of becoming America’s Next Top Socialite, just agreeing with the latter portion of #89’s post (and clearly making a highly superficial and not very kind statement…shame on me).

95. Old Friend - July 17, 2008

Yes, Amen # 87, I get it. You are being snarky about a really nice girl, who loves her friends and family, works hard, and has people coming to her asking them to design for them, is honest enough to say she enjoys it all, and doesn’t take herself as seriously as the naysayers do. I admire someone like her that can just go about life with a positive attitude and in such a refreshing way. It is no wonder that nice things have come her way. Just don’t begrudge her for it. Maybe you should spend some of that time and energy cultivating a positive life for yourself. As Tinsley will show you, the rewards are worth it!

96. elle - July 17, 2008

this is becoming less stimulating than watching my nails dry.

97. constance - July 17, 2008

I am still waiting for her to wow me with her charm, style or generosity. She is a cute girl that knows how to hustle, but I don’t understand all of this hype.

98. Still A Lady - July 17, 2008

I found two things very telling.

1.) When asked what she does, she said she likes having her “own thing” and “making money” and would “continue to focus on that for a while”.

2.) When asked how she spends her money, she actually paused to think a moment and STILL proceeded to list “clothes, shoes, and bags”.

So much for philanthropy or having a real purpose in one’s life.

99. Still A Lady - July 17, 2008

To #87/Amen, I’m going to have to disagree about her apartment. I was expecting to see something befitting Charlote York on SATC - beige, mahogany, beige, mahogany. Like Dayssi’s home actually. (meow) But instead it was actually very nicely done - neither stuffy/dated nor boring. Clearly she has good taste. You could never really say that Tinsley has poor taste. I’d agree her bedroom is not to my taste, but her dining room and living room were lovely. I wish she would replace her chandelier though. Anyway…

100. VA - July 17, 2008

In the interview she states she likes ” making my own money…” .

Hmm…..Very telling. Did not mention a thing about being challenged, motivated or fullfilled with her “work”.

Wonder if / when she will ditch Mr. Tinsley and move on into her own condo.

101. elle - July 17, 2008

Ew i agree i love her house..i was so surprised that it was mostly blue..i would figure pink, which would be ok with me because i adore pink…but i think the blue suits her perfectly, as does the decor itself. i will say though that her bed linens are very expensive and poorly made.

do you not like charlotte’s apt.? I adore it!! i have to admit though that i’m obsessed with that character, so maybe i’m biased.

102. 74th - July 17, 2008

Apparently she can’t win…I would think “making my own money” (and being financially independent) would be embraced by those in this crowd who think she is too fluffy.

103. Old Friend - July 17, 2008

# 98 The video attached to this blog clearly tells which charities she is donating to. Somehow they knew this information. Just because you don’t see her saying it don’t think it isn’t important to her and don’t think she didn’t say it. Hey, did you ever hear of editing?!

104. jarret - July 17, 2008

74th,

Tinsley is not an actual professional. She is a lifestyle ambassador. She is trying to be some kind of populist celebrity version of the rich Manhattan woman of leisure, a woman who doesn’t work, just dresses up. It is not as if she is an artist or a doctor or a lawyer or something else relatively accomplished or respectable. If she were a real woman of leisure with tons of money, she could be quietly charitable instead of having to go all over town pushing her shtick everywhere.

105. Virginian2 - July 17, 2008

Maybe we should all agree nothing new can be said about Tinsley. Some “like” her; others don’t. Some envy her; some think she’s silly; some just don’t like anything but sour grapes. But the constant rehash is getting a little repetitive.

Jarret - you don’t really think the only “respectable” and “accomplished” people are “professionals” like doctors and lawyers, right? If so, why are you spending time on PAP?

106. elle - July 17, 2008

I think some of you are just pissed because someone like her would never give bitches like you the time of day.

107. Old Friend - July 17, 2008

jarret, I am wondering why you would think Tinsley is not a professional. And to say she is trying to become a “woman of leisure, who doesn’t work, just dresses up”?!!!!! This just proves some of you have no idea how hard she works. I would call designing handbags and clothing, and putting her face on a building an artistic endeavor, as would most people. I have been with her when she was working on her designs and laboring over them, no she doesn’t just put her name to them, she cares about them and works hard. Then she has to go to Japan to promote them. It is funny sometimes to see what people write who don’t know her, when they try to put their own spin on her life.

108. sia - July 17, 2008

can anyone please give me the link to the vanity fair article on her apt.?
i will also look myself whilst i wait!

109. Ana - July 17, 2008

It wasn’t vanity fair it was bazaar under the title “Blonde Ambition”

110. Brooke - July 17, 2008

Apt looked neat - not a kick back place by any means - I like cozy and thought it was frou frou - where do Topper and the boys hang out??? (wink) yes another post please please ..

111. Virginian2 - July 17, 2008

Is it possible the entire apartment wasn’t shown? And if there isn’t a hang out place for the boys (what are they? 13? do they need a clubhouse?), that’s between the Mortimers.

112. Brooke - July 17, 2008

Not 13 .. 33 and chubby - drink a beer kick back feet on coffee table - talk about big breasted women - regular stuff - it all should be between the M’s but they have elected a public life - it can suck at times - not being “understood”

113. elle - July 17, 2008

even though i somewhat agree with what they are saying, i’ll bet everyone on this blog $5 that “old friend” has never even breathed the same air as tinsley.

114. Brooke - July 17, 2008

OLD friend is a snore job ….or TM’s best friend in 7th grade - I could care less if I am outed on this blog - but damn would love to see others outed - eventually we’ll all be named via lawsuits for blogs chuckling now - let’s see who does not post any longer ha ha ha ha ha

115. sia - July 17, 2008

heres the link to the pics of her apt, btw if anyone wants:

http://www.harpersbazaar.com/magazine/feature-articles/tinsley-mortimer-lookbook-0308
what month did this publish in? the online version was not so clear on that.
she looks so great with the straight hair. i like most of the style of the apt., her dining room looks like it could be very small though.

don’t worry gals, there is a picture of her cross-legged

116. sia - July 17, 2008

heres the link to the pics of her apt, btw if anyone wants:
(dont think i could paste this below the original way, so mind the spaces)

117. sia - July 17, 2008

oh wait just realized, march 08? maybe?

118. elle - July 17, 2008

i thought march too at first bec. the link says “0308″, but i think it is going to be in this month’s bec. it talks about an event that occurred in june, so it has to be coming out after june. anyway the new harper’s bazaar should come out probably by the beginning of next week.

119. Parker - July 18, 2008

Their apartment looks veeery tiny. What is the average size apt. in her area?

120. sia - July 18, 2008

i got the same impression Parker. Manhattan apartments are not that spacious in general, however depends on what she’s got going on in the Upper East area she is. With Topper’s income, and what she makes, I mean, i don’t know?
Remember she likes to buy ’shoes, clothes, bags’ with her money.

121. 74th - July 18, 2008

Well, they are probably in a respected pre-war building, right? So you are automatically going to cut out some space and/or pay more for that. From what I can tell apartments sell for $100K-300K (at a minimum) per square foot. My guess is they don’t have a “guys room” but the apartment is still spacious enough to make most New Yorkers envious. They don’t have children and they probably aren’t home a lot, so I think it seems to be a size that makes sense.

122. Sarah - July 18, 2008

They are in an ok building on a terrible street–79th between madison and park. They live in a 2 bedroom, 2nd fl apt., and because its pre-war, it probably doesnt even break 1100 sq. feet. No way there is a guy’s room, and who knows if there really is a second bedroom or if you’re looking at it with the dining room. Also, I’m sure the kitchen barely accounts for anything more than a galley.

123. Old Friend - July 18, 2008

#113 elle, I can see why you would only bet $5 if I have ever breathed the same air as Tinsley because it is such a paultry sum. I have known her from the time she was born and “No” I am not her mother. I have to keep saying that because if I ever say anything to defend her people think her mother said it. As I read over the comments, it makes me laugh to read yours. If anyone ever sounded like a “pink poof job” it is you. What is boring to me is people who don’t know her, making up stories about her and guessing what she is like or what she thinks, or what is in her head. I guess maybe to some people it is a little more entertaining to make up things but I can’t help but try to set the record straight when I know what a great girl she is. You would do the same if you knew her.

124. 74th - July 18, 2008

Okay, I can’t believe I said that. I meant $1,000-$3,000 per square foot. It was early, what can I say.

125. elle - July 18, 2008

oh old pal i think if you read my comments then you know i’m a defender of the tinz. And that’s so great that I make you laugh. I love making people happy!

126. Parker - July 18, 2008

Thanks 74th. Wow, I was thinking to my West Coast dwelling self, how the hell can ANYONE afford to live there. That is still veeery expensive though. I have a 3200 sq. foot Victorian that is exquitely beautiful and we didn’t even pay $100/sq. foot! But of course. . . there is nothing like New York!

127. Old Friend - July 18, 2008

:-)

128. Ana - July 18, 2008

Who do you think this blind item is about–courtesty of cityfile???

“Which A-list socialite’s apartment was recently photographed for an upcoming feature but was so filthy that staffers had to clean up the pad themselves?”

129. Ana - July 18, 2008

*courtesy*

130. Still A Lady - July 18, 2008

oooh I wonder! I could guess. I bet a thousand dollars it wasn’t Tinsley’s. She’s not stupid.

131. elle - July 18, 2008

when is that dang magazine gonna come out?

132. Gorgeous - July 18, 2008

what an amazing piece. she looks great and comes across so well on camera. i am very happy for her.
why were they covering a V magazine photo shoot ? was that dabney with her in the shoot?

133. elle - July 18, 2008

does anyone have the march 08 issue of hb who knows if tinsley was in it? i have every other issue but march..go figure!

134. elle - July 18, 2008

yeah it was definitely in the march issue, so sia you’re def. right!

135. xtina in chi - July 19, 2008

The funniest part was the tag “Fishing For Millionaires” that flashes for an upcoming segment when they mention she married Topper.

136. Sam - July 19, 2008

Xtina, that would only have been funny if Tinsley had been someone who grew up poor and set out to nab a millionaire, but since she lived an exotic, well-heeled life before she ever met Topper in boarding school, it really isn’t that funny.

137. elle - July 19, 2008

it really was, actually. someone in the control room got their rocks off doing that, I’m sure.

138. PansyAston - July 20, 2008

Just saw August issue of Vogue, with Mercer girls and Fabiola in Dior ad~~~there’s a lipgloss featured, but it is not Tinsley Pink. Odd.

Old friend, what on earth did they say in Richmond about the elopement/annulment? Did they just shack up for a few years???

As stated before TMM’s apartment is lovely and personal, and I am quite sure her manners are impeccable~~~and THAT is refreshing!!
(But can the girl cook? HeeHee!)

139. Sarah - July 20, 2008

Doesn’t matter–that is how people see her anyway. And, she didn’t come from anything that great beforehand…

140. Family Values - July 20, 2008

Tinsley came from an upper-middle class family who worked hard to provide a great future for her. They sent her to the right schools, pushed her to excel in sports and gifted her a well-rounded upbringing. She was essentially handed the “tools” to take her life to the next level. The lifestyle her parents never had- which by the way, IS the American Dream.

You cannot fault Tinsley for not being born an heiress or some upper-crust society girl.

She was not born RICH- but who the F cares?

Topper gave her a last name that allowed entry into this world.

She is also nice and hardworking which is why she is here to stay.

There a plenty of women that marry rich men that do nothing and are nasty.

Tinsley is PRETTY and NICE and chose this path she wanted. Why fault her? She got what she wanted and it makes her happy. Power to a woman who actually GETS what she wants!

How can you hate on that? She has never said she comes from a “”rich” family or a was born a princess- she said she came from a loving family. We know it was relatively modest. Why judge that? Society has a new meaning today. You can be born into it, marry into or work your way into it. As long as you are not hurting anyone in the process, why shouldn’t she get photographed or become famous for going out? Obviously you are all intrigued.

To me having loving parents are what counts in the end. I am sorry but most of you only wish you had a life as glamorous as the girls in these pages. Most of you rip apart on these girl’s looks , boyfriends, husbands and weight. Who are you people who sit here looking in at other’s lives judging? Who cares if someone went to NYU or Columbia? If she got in as transfer student or from high school? What does this have to do with the kind of person Tinsley is or how this applies to her success? It’s so trivial.

I love looking at the pictures too, and i agree that some of these girls are over-exposed. But please think about your own values and if the statements you are writing are actually TRUE before you post.

Some of you sound so hateful and bitter. A sign of a less than stellar upbringing and excuse me , but classless values.

141. Brooke - July 20, 2008

#140 have to give it to you - very well written and gives pause for thought….

142. PansyAston - July 21, 2008

“relatively modest”??
Now THAT sounds snobbish!!!

143. Parker - July 21, 2008

You can’t fault her for her answer to the question “What do you spend your money on?” What a stupid and rude question. Would you ask any other working woman what she spends her money on? That reporter comes across as totally condescending when she asks that, as if what Tinsley does is all just a frivolous novelty. While she isn’t practicing brain surgery she is working just like many other women in fashion/beauty.

144. Andie Anderson - July 23, 2008

Tinsley Mortimer rocks. LOVE HER.
