Professional sports franchise heiress Kate Mara and Brit Emily Mortimer filmed Transsiberian, their latest thriller about traveling between Beijing and Moscow, in Vilnius, Lithuania two winters ago. The film premiered at Sundance in January and the Cinema Society, with Conde Nast Traveler, screened it at the Tribeca Grand Hotel for a mass that included Eleanor Ylvisaker, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, and aristocrat Rebecca Guinness, all of whom were on hand at the official after party in the Yard at the Soho Grand Hotel.

Kate and Emily have such great looks. Annabelle is really cute. She kind of even looks like her big sis Samantha Ronson!

You know.. one thing about this website which is very ego-boosting… when you look at an entry and you look far better in your pajamas than every single one of these women look dressed up with make-up (except perhaps Ferebee - she’s so annoying but very cute). Rebecca Guinness - the face only an Irishman could love. Philippa is going through an awkward stage, I dare say. She looks like Michelle Duggar!!!! I agree that Eleanor is a beauty but she always appears as though she is working hard against it. Her clothes never show off her figure, her make up never highlights her pretty features and her hair is the wrong cut, shade of blonde, part…everything. For shame too. She could be the biggest knockout this board has ever seen.

The Mara’s are lovely. Went to college with a few of them, and they were well regarded, nice, and extremely down to earth all things considered. Kate looks lovely, and I’m glad that she’s getting more publicity these days. Her acting is starting to take off. That being said, perhaps the other ladies forgot they were going to be photographed. It is possible, no?

She’s from Rocky Mount NC which is right off I-95 and is much like any typical stop off the interstate would be, just like Jersey towns that are right off the turnpike (gross) as opposed to elsewhere.
Unlike some other Southern socials we’ve seen here, she didn’t go to any private or boarding school (either in the South or the North) and she attended UNC because it was IN STATE
If that weren’t enough, her parents, who have no money, have a sailboat (not a yacht, a boat) and they make their living by giving tours. I don’t have the link anymore but someone should and if you see the pictures of her parents and the people who go on this boat you would see what a bunch of rednecks they are. This is what they do to make a living, ok?
Sure, its a honest living and they aren’t hurting anybody, but the idea that someone like that would ever be considered a social and would ever be in a position to decide who is worthy to get invited to parties, is the most ridiculous joke! In fact, I know a family who lives on I-95 in a town that makes Rocky Mount look like Paris. You would consider them white trash, I suppose. They intially made their money in land and tobacco, but have expanded their holdings & interests in the last generation. They’re worth about $32 million. They have a small house on a beach in Carolina and a small boat. They travel all over the world and have a very nice, low key life. But, in your world, I guess they’re trash.
Considering how harsh you all are on everyone else’s backgrounds, people who really are la-de-da, as you would say, why are you suddenly giving this girl the benefit of the doubt? Hmmm….

When I went to Chapel Hill (women’s college transfer, out of state), it was loaded with lah-di-dah Yankees who wintered in Jupiter and summered in Nantucket, as well as the scions of North Carolina dynasties. I do know that every Southern Social in North Carolina knows one another!!!
As for in-state, UNC accepts students only from the top 10% of their high schools or prep schools. Out of state? Give them a new building and hope for the best!

I don’t like that she pretends to be something she is not. You take a scenester like Amy Sacco, for example. She is very successful,and there probably isn’t a fashion show or party that she does not get invited too. But even though she became a darling of the social press, she doesn’t pretend that she is a “socialite.” She admits to her humble background. Ferebee is not a self made woman in that vein. She’s just trying to pass herself off as an Eleanor. I hope you see the difference.
The irony is that Eleanor (and most like her) is a lot nicer and less snobby then Ferebee. I don’t think snobbery is ever a good thing, but someone like Ferebee, who doesn’t come from anywhere close to the right background to begin with, has even less of a right to act that way. She’s the type of person who would reject herself from her own club. You don’t see a problem with that?
Just as an aside, most of the comments about others on here from what I have seen haven’t been about socials being mean, but, that they look awful, are trashy, are old, etc. In other words, just as spiteful as mine! Hope that helps.

The difference is that rednecks can be good people who just don’t live in a super advanced way, maybe lower class economically, and they aren’t polished and are typically country.
White trash can be billionaires if they are disgraceful and tacky. Money doesn’t always equal civility, manners, or proper carriage.

Brooke, I was just pointing out that if you are going to be mean and insult someone, you should at least spell the insult correctly. There is no need to get all cranky and defensive. However, if you really want to get picky, Prozac is for depression, so I’d suggest Lithium which would help control those angry mood swings.
It seems that the majority of those who post here have the most unhealthy obsession with money and class. It is really quite ridiculous & petty that where you are born, to whom you are born, where you are schooled, occupation, name, size of nose etc…is really so important here. Would all of this really determine your like or dislike of a perfectly decent, talented individual. I know people from all different lineage, occupations & fashion sense that are all lovely & have contributed something to my life & others. I am soooooo happy that unlike many of you, I do not limit myself to only the superficial details of who a person is. We are all just people. You people do not get it!! This is about money because when was the last time you saw someone without it walking past the cameras. NY SOCIETY!!! That doesn’t mean that less wealthy people don’t have style, class, or worth. I agree with Elle- style&class are priceless. One can’t apologize or regret their parents or their situations, but style&class may come easier to those with money, but there are SO many who it doesn’t come to at all. I’m SO over the “social” thing- it isn’t the money that makes you interesting, its what you do with it IMHO. (yes, I’m an idealist:) )
Aside from that, Ferebee’s damn pretty, and I hear a lot of petty jealousy on here. She’s seriously one of the prettiest girls featured on this site.
