Access Hollywood accessed one of Manhattan’s finest with this one. Maria Menounos interviews Tinsley Mortimer, who she deems a real-life Gossip Girl, and follows her for a day. Video clips of the socialite’s Riccimie by Tinsley Mortimer boutique opening in Japan, her Tinsley Pink for Dior Beauty lip gloss launch, and her getting ready for and attending the release of “The Park Avenue Diet,” a book she contributed to, and the Whitney Contemporaries art party and auction are included. So cute, I love her!!

2. chic - June 30, 2008

Uumh.. I can not understand why James likes Tinsley. She’s not even very pretty or rich. + her personality seems kinda boring..

3. Gene - June 30, 2008

This site is turning into a Tinsley shrine…

4. Taylor - June 30, 2008

Tins is so pretty. Cute dresses in each. So glam- getting ready for Whitney party… I love her more than ever, for no reason other than that she’s having a good time and not worrying about anything but empowering and building herself up.

5. molly - June 30, 2008

at least tinsley is doing things with herself. what is the point of getting dressed up and criticized by random people on the internet otherwise? what do these girls get out of it? if you ask me, if they are not turning it around and doing something positive, then they must be sadists! at least tinsley has turned all of this into something she can fall back on. good for her and i can’t wait to see more come out of her. she is unlike all the other girls and it’s very refreshing to see this.

6. Londoner - June 30, 2008

Tinsley is a doll. I can’t get enough of her. If only for the fact that she is being smart about all of this attention and turning photographs into endorsement deals, fashion and cosmetics lines, interior designs, a book, etc. She came off as very sincere in the interview and I suppose I never realised that she was such a big deal in NY, turning herself into a luxury mogul. I am happy for her and wish her the best.

7. Bliss - June 30, 2008

Like the orange TM bag. Cute girl.

8. tracie - June 30, 2008

what a dream life. your own stores, designs, handsome hubby, and dior even naming a lip gloss after you… this is the good life.

9. Surge - June 30, 2008

She has a partial lisp, too if you notice in the beginning of the clip.

10. Parker - June 30, 2008

#6 My thoughts exactly. She isn’t hurting anyone and is making her own income now. . .possibly more than Topper’s. I think she is darling and I wasn’t a fan until she started the ‘business’ aspect of herself.

11. Virginian2 - June 30, 2008

Gene, you’re a little late to the party. This site has always been a shrine to Tinsley. James likes her; it’s his site; he can do what he wants with it.

Just wait a few hours. These posts will deteriorate into the “same old same old” arguments, disagreements, blah, blah, blah about her. Booorrring.

12. TriBeCa - June 30, 2008

Interesting you should say that Molly. These girls must be sadists to be constantly be berated by absolute, anonymous strangers on the Internet. I mean, why would you do that to yourself? The nice, positive comments are so rare. You know what? I like Tinsley. I didn’t before but it takes a lot to move past the BS of being an “NY socialite” and being something even greater than getting your hair and make up done, going out, and then being b*tched about online by random Peggy Sue Anns in Florida.

13. NYBlondes - June 30, 2008

Tinsley is hot and blonde!

14. morgan stanley - June 30, 2008

hot. i would get with her.

15. Virginian2 - June 30, 2008

Well said Molly and TriBeCa. I don’t “know” Tinsley, but you have to admire her. A lot of girls from Podunk (Richmond) Virginia would just be partying in the Hamptons and being totally obnoxious about how important & wonderful they are just because they “married up”. I can think of quite a few who would be doing that. And I suspect a few of the posters on this site would be doing that too. Including me!

16. JMC - June 30, 2008

She’s 32!? I had no idea. I thought she was much older. I think she’s great, don’t get me wrong, but we’re the same age and she (sometimes) can look years older.

17. Casper - June 30, 2008

i thought he was older too. the makeup and hair look good, but obviously does not do the job. I cannot imagine how badly she must look without all of it. A business woman? She hardly spoke in this interview, I highly doubt she can hold a business meeting!

18. Grosvenor Square - June 30, 2008

What I admire the MOST about Tinsley is that she’s turned all of these photos in Vogue and Bazaar and even by enduring the merciless comments on websites like PAP into some kind of bank. None of the other girls are being smart about this attention. This is why Tinsley stands out from the crowd.

19. frankenstein - June 30, 2008

molly and tribeca: it’s “masochist” - not sadist ;-)

20. Amen - June 30, 2008

I still think she does not “do video” very well, not a natural actress, hope she’s better on GG.
However, I have a little more respect for her now, onward and upward BrandTinz……its more appealing than the junk Paris is hocking.

21. xtina in chi - June 30, 2008

I enjoyed this, even if everything about it was totally lol. But I’ve come to love her for being a Park Avenue cartoon character.

She’ll never catch on with a bigger crowd, at least not without getting ripped to shreds. But I’m very happy for for being a bulldog.

22. xtina in chi - June 30, 2008

for her*

23. interesting - June 30, 2008

her husband is a very very nice man, but i would not call him handsome. She has thin lips. But good for her, she is making it work we are all talking about her for pete’s sake!!

24. Calloway - June 30, 2008

People really have to stop saying they are going out for “business.” It has become the oldest lamest excuse in the book. What’s so wrong with saying you go out because…you like to go out? That’s what its supposed to be, recreation. All of us humans do it. It’s ok. Admit it.

25. SuSu - June 30, 2008

#14: I second you. The haters will be out soon enough…its jealousy more than anything else, don’t you think?

I posted a response to a post about Tins, deliberately using all her names and sure enough, the ever-so-nasty “Brooke” and several other crazy people just went off on poor Tins. And me. You just have to mention her name and they come out of the woodwork, just b*tch*ng. There never seems to be any valid reason for all of the nastiness. Kudos to Tins for using every available asset to become a success. She’s a lot smarter than most give her credit for.

For some reason, I expect posters on this site to be a bit more intelligent and able to string together a coherent sentence. Obviously, I expect too much.

P.S. I prefer Cape Cod.

26. Calloway - June 30, 2008

Interesting, I have never understood why people diss her as having thin lips, she doesn’t at all! They are not thick, not thin, just average. If you want examples of unattractively thin lips: Ferby Bishop. Or Jamee Korey. Or Lydia (Hearst or Fenet). Tinsley’s nose may be too thin, but her lips are just fine. Never understood that comment.

27. Y&R - June 30, 2008

I just like that she doesn’t let anything bring her down. It really says a lot about her character. Some (most) of these girls wake up in the afternoon, get ready, get pictured at an event, and get torn apart about how ugly they look on this website and I am sure by countless other non-PAP magazine readers. What do they have to their name? That they were born to the right mother or married to the right man? Tinsley is working it and milking this all. Brilliant on her part.

Calloway, I agree with you but only partially. I believe Tinsley started going out for fun but she realized how lucrative all of this can be. She saw the potential in this little world, something no other girl in this set is doing. Do any of these other “socials” have anything to their name besides party pictures?

28. interesting - June 30, 2008

No they are very thin, are you blind!!

29. Southern Deb - June 30, 2008

she is so adorable but she sounds like a 13 year old valley girl with a sinus infection when she speaks. is the voice for real?

30. Parker - June 30, 2008

At least her lips are natural! If she plumped them up then we’d have to rip her apart for having collagen injections. What’s so horrible about keeping something that you are born with?

31. Calloway - June 30, 2008

Are you kidding! Do you think these women would not jump at the opportunity of making a “business” of their social fame if given a chance? They haven’t been asked. When Tinsley showed up at every party that existed (from about 04 to 06), and everyone got all in a huff about what a PR “whore” she was….well, that is how she became the #1 socialite in New York…and was able to come out on the other end with all of these business offers. These offers don’t just roll in. You have to be really really well known. T spent YEARS at this, not just showing up everywhere, but cultivating all the right people, and getting designers, PR agents, and writers (Peter Davis) to promote her. From this end it looks easy but believe me its not, and you have to want this BADLY because it takes a lot of determination.

I don’t think she knew that she wanted start turning all of this into a business until she got to that point. She knew she wanted to be very well known, as a New York socialite, and see where that would take her. Now those following in her footsteps can see specifically the type of things that can be gotten out of this social fame. But before it becomes profitable, you have to be known enough to get these offers, which entails…as many of you have said, go to these stupid events, get torn apart, make key friends but make even more enemies, but those few who are on your side champion you enough so that you reach that level and move on to “bigger better things” like having a lip gloss named after you.

Its so punishing and ridiculous I don’t know why anyone would want to place themselves on that merry go round. But Tinsley most definitely did it and that is what some of these others are doing as well.

32. Bergdorf - June 30, 2008

Which others are doing anything besides Tinsley? Byrdie has acting, and the rest really don’t. Pure sadists!

33. Brooke - June 30, 2008

#25 she is adorable and she does sound like a VG but thank God no boarding school lockjaw - definitely does NOT have a refined voice - #26 you are scaring orthodontists - FYI if you click Hampton Style you’ll get a “Minnie” report -

34. Parker - June 30, 2008

Re: Hamptons style. Love the collage of Minnie outfits. I want to have her body.

List of Billionaires. . .depressing they are almost all over 60 and married. . .I don’t think all the money in the world would tempt me if he was old and unattractive. . .I suppose that is superficiality in its own right huh? On a positive note most of them are self-made billionaires so there is hope for all of us ; )

35. Brooke - June 30, 2008

#30 funny I thought MM’s outfits were atrocious - I don’t think she has any “style” but killer body - wasn’t there a song “what I’ll do for love??” translation $$$$$

36. Calloway - June 30, 2008

Bergdorf I hate to sound hostile but can’t you read? I said these women aren’t doing anything because they have not had those offers, not yet. And Byrdie is an actress like I am Santa Claus. Especially now that Bingo dumped her. If she were really serious, she would have moved to LA instead of kissing Derek “bar mitzvah boy” Blasberg’s ass. The actess thing is just like, as I said earlier, everyone has to make up some “profession” that they are doing, and that is their “excuse” for going out. Because they can’t actually admit that they want the attention…they have to pretend that going out is for thier “business.”. My ass it is!

Read Tat Boncompagni’s NYT style article on “business climbers” from the fall - it states this point succinctly and perfectly.

37. sia - June 30, 2008

She has a lisp and she seems to have some sort of mouth disorder– like an underbite or something? Her lips/ teeth are very very oddly out of whack.
Her hair looks lovely and must be SO damaged from all the ironing and peroxide. Wow.

Well her pr team/person/ instinct is doing well, and must also have James to thank for that as well!

38. sia - June 30, 2008

I wish I could get alerted when there were posts that were none-Tinsley focused here and then I would log on….

39. FG'sS - June 30, 2008

She looks fantastic and good for her! Go Tinsley. You really are making a name for yourself in the crazy world of cutthroat socials. Go go go getter you are.

40. Brooke - June 30, 2008

#34 post when sober

41. Ann G - June 30, 2008

She must be the oldest cast member (guest)on GG. Shouldn’t she be playing someone’s mother? The other actors/actresses her age are the parents- and surely they used to be socials in nyc, in the show’s story. Kind of ridunkulous.

42. sia - June 30, 2008

Brooke are you serious? I guess you don’t read English well. Like your posts are Shakespearean. This truly is a Tins love site. I wish someone could start a general site that posts events the days they happen & not focus so much on the southerner with no accent and rug sales in her genes. TL— tinsleylover.

43. Brooke - June 30, 2008

#27 “T spent YEARS at this, not just showing up everywhere, but cultivating all the right people, and getting designers, PR agents, and writers (Peter Davis) to promote her.

No debate but is Peter D her fancy pants relative? Topper’s half bro???? Is he sweet???

44. Calloway - June 30, 2008

#39 yes he is her BIL, and, actually, he is as sweet as they come. But no doubt he plugged her A LOT.

45. Chloe - June 30, 2008

OT but there is no appropriate thread to post this….

Anyone else read Cindy Adams’s column about the 2 ladies who screentested for Real Housewives 2?

Screentested…not even guaranteed to be on the show, that’s how desperate these women were?

I was just surprised because, even though the 2 women are much older than the PAP girls, they are somewhat social, at least compared to the skanky women on the show. So I was surprised they lowered themselves like that. Bad move on their part!

46. emma - June 30, 2008

tinsley = fabulous
we all wish we could be as rich and pretty as her, plus say that we are “businesswomen” and not just socialites. I mean, she goes out to only get photographed with her bags?? um, where do I sign up? I want a job where my sole responsibility is to get all dolled up and show off a bag I designed. hello, all you haters are just jealous. and picking at silly things like her lips! get over it

47. marisa - June 30, 2008

her bad nose job gave her a weird voice, sort of like she has a sinus infection. other than that, she is fab fab fab. her hair is perfection

48. NYBlondes - June 30, 2008

She owns NYC.

49. 10065 - June 30, 2008

Chloe why are you so surprised? That Tatiana hires PMC every time she has to take a piss! Don’t know anything about the other one.

50. elle - June 30, 2008

Why is it so hard to believe that she’s going out for business. I’m positive that is not her only motivation for going out, but she is definitely networking like any business person does. That is how you make contacts and get business. She’s killing two birds with one stone..raising her social status and upping her clientele. Brilliant.

51. SuSu - June 30, 2008

Dear God in Heaven: please, please - I meant to say I agree with #15, NOT #14!!

And “Calloway” has some very valid points - it’s hard work and it ain’t pretty!

#37 - not nice at all…mean. You don’t want to be the next “Brooke,” do you?

52. bcprincess - June 30, 2008

She’s obviously beautiful, but does she have braces? She looks unhappy and when she opens her mouth, it’s just sad. The Gossip Girl joke and credibility reference is hilarious.

I know people who are this wealthy, but prefer to spend their precious time with their families that bring them joy. It’s very sad that these women fight for the latest dresses like 5 year olds over toys and try to find happiness from a photograph that might end up making them a few more bucks. Which they need, why?

53. sia - June 30, 2008

45 & 49, re: Cindy Adams: I agree w 49, bc page 6 said the other day that it was Tatiana Platt who was signed on (not sure about ‘tested’, this is page 6 though, not Cindy Adams)- in case the last holdout- i forget who- did not continue onto season 2. It was pretty secure that it was Tatiana. Not sure of the other one!

54. sia - June 30, 2008

I wish someone could find some old old pic of her before her nosejob (just like I want one of Muppet before all her facework)- or did Tinsley get one at like 17? I can’t believe nosejobs alter your voice so much. That is awful.

55. Hadley - July 1, 2008

Whatever. I love the Tinz. This video makes me like her even more actually. She looks 100% happy and natural with the blinding lights of the cameras and obviously has a great head on her shoulders. I guess I never realized that out of all the vapid PAP girls, the Tinz is the only one who is making an actual income out of this whole “society circuit.” All the nasty comments I read about her here, about her nose, her husband, her background, what have you… it just makes her even more famous. Out of all the other girls on the site, she is the only one that is recognized and pursued by the paparazzi. I don’t know if this is what she wanted all along but as it stands, no one even comes remotely close to being as successful as Tinsley so brava!

56. maggie - July 1, 2008

When James first came to New York, Tinsley treated him like royalty. She’s the smartest of them all. like Tinsley but Maria Menounos is much more attractive than Tinz Secondly, the story says she goes out to events to be photographed for her business. I thought she’s out all the time supporting the good work of charities

57. camilparis - July 1, 2008

Umh.. she has a handbagline (for _samantha thavasa_ - she hasnt even designed those ugly bags by herself) etc, but she is not a business woman. “I go out for business reasons” - sure, if Fabiola “Fab!!” Beracasa is one of your businesspartners..
Business people sure go to some lip gloss launch parties all the time!

58. PansyAston - July 1, 2008

“Supporting the good work of charities”: Is that buying a $1000 plate (0r 2, if the husband decides to go) OR
is it agreeing to have your name on the list and getting a free dress to be photographed in?

59. Sarah - July 1, 2008

#56 you are right… you have to wonder what her true reasons for all this is. Further, what she is doing is hardly novel.

60. Upper East Side - July 1, 2008

Camil and Pansy, you are both so wrong but hey, if you want to remain ignorant, that is completely your choice. Tinsley actually does design the handbags and clothing lines. Samantha Thavasa simply underwrites her work. She created the Tinsley Pink lip gloss color for Dior… it is a distinct pink shade. She authored the chapters in the diet book. She consults for a real estate company on her specialty, luxury branding. Somehow, because she was a “socialite” first, it is “impossible” to believe that she does anything by herself, right? Before she was a New York socialite, she was a student at Columbia. She’s got a lot in her, too. She’s not as dumb as people desperately want to assume or believe.

Yes, charity does mean buying $2,000 plates for charity, every other night of the week (at least she was doing this a little while ago). When she attends almost three nights of charity events, that alone is $6,000 and for the entire month, she would have spent $24,000. Multiply that by 12… it all adds up to quite a hefty sum, and I am not even counting her own additional donations.

As I’ve read in the comments section on this website before, nothing anyone does is ever “good enough.” That may be the case but Tinsley is an exception to this rule.

61. Anee - July 1, 2008

48. Did she buy it from Ivanka, because last time I checked, Ivanka was the star of NYC. Class and some serious brains (and no valley girl accent.)

62. Jeannie - July 1, 2008

Brooke you are such an angry cow, I laugh everytime I read your posts. I am so sick of you.

Upper East Side, well said. No one is every good enough. So sad.

63. b.SL - July 1, 2008

I agree with #31. Well said.
I really like TInsley. I love that she doesn’t have a “little dumb blonde” voice. She’s clearly an intelligent woman, but I’ve never heard her speak before. If I could do all of this, I would, but I’m too much a nice person with raging b!tch tendencies :)

64. Me - July 1, 2008

This type of stuff makes Tinsley so endearing to me. You have to admire her for her work. I am not an Upper East Side housewife/homemaker but you have to hand it to the girl to turning her free time into an actual glamorous career for herself.

65. Anaiah - July 1, 2008

TINSLEY SPEAKS!!

45, 49, 53:
wouldn’t it be great to have a “real” socialite on the “real” housewives? that show is hilarious — almost as entertaining as tinsley-watching.

66. Genevieve - July 1, 2008

She looks sad - an aging beauty trying to hold on to her youth.
Why not, instead, embrace your maturity, cut off that ridiculous hair, trade those silly babydolls for some serious slacks, and for take off that horrible bubblegum pink lipgloss (dior, or not).
I understand she is trying to create a “trademark style” but it doesn’t work. Did someone say she is 32?? Common, you old girl. Give it up. Go shag with Topper and create some mini-Mortimers (and no, I don’t mean more Minnie’s, please!!) and start living vicariously through them. Enough with the dressing like a 8 year old.

67. elle - July 1, 2008

I think she is adorable, well spoken, and well dressed. #66 what makes me know that your post is completely sarcastic is that you say that she is trying to “hold on to her youth” at age 32! Haha that was a good one. She is just ancient. I sense some jealousy on this blog.

68. sia - July 1, 2008

Yes she is ancient compared to other new socials, and compared to castmates on the GG! ha ha. So yes, Elle, i am not jealous, but i agree with Genevieve. Well said Genevieve!
I agree with everything you said.

Elle is part of the TL group

69. Brooke - July 1, 2008

We all have opinions - and those opinions vary - some are kind many are not - these gals should stay home unless they do not want to be discussed…the good the bad and the ugly public life - this is a public board and we don’t need hall “monitors” telling us to go elsewhere - TM is cute, successful, and should stay home if she can’t take the heat - called “celeb” lifestyle —- I said on post that Babe Paley would turn over thinking TM was relative

70. elle - July 1, 2008

I doubt that these girls are worrying about what people say about them when they are on their yachts in the hamptons sipping Dom.

71. Sarah - July 1, 2008

Dont be so naivete…

72. liberty - July 1, 2008

Her mouth is so odd. What is going on there exactly? Invisalign?

73. emma - July 1, 2008

she reminds me of those old school beauties that are now 95 years old but still think they’re hot. its like #66 said, they hold on to the idea that they are going to stay this way forever and they don’t change with the times or with their changing faces, bodies. Its like she plays this character, except she is too old for it. The dresses, the round toe shoes, the long curly hair, the overdone makeup. It’s all too much, and way inappropriate.

74. Beth - July 1, 2008

I love this girl. 32 is not 95. She’s very beautiful. Why can’t she have any fun with her life? Just because you are married and such and such age doesn’t mean you have to have kids, gain weight, and start wearing tracksuits. She is what every housewife/homemaker without children should aspire to be. If only we could all have her glam lifestyle…

75. elle - July 1, 2008

amen!

76. Nolita - July 2, 2008

Looks like Victoria Gotti…

77. susi - July 2, 2008

73 & 76 you are so right!
74, there IS a way to age (she is young, I’m not saying she is old), gracefully. Her hair is far too long, her makeup too young-looking, her clothes sometimes inappropriate, some of her career moves (Gossip Girl? Really?) - debatable. So I think there are alterior ways she can move around in society in an elegant, age-appropriate way. Again, though, I’m not saying she is old.

78. great blind item on p.h.--- - July 2, 2008

you all must read it! he posted it like 2 days ago though, so scroll back. Has to do with GG.

79. Sarah - July 2, 2008

I’m sure she just does pretty much whatever comes her way… what other choice does she have really…

80. constance frye - July 2, 2008

I am getting a Heidi Montag vibe from her.

81. Still A Lady - July 2, 2008

Here’s how I feel about Tinsley in a nutshell.

On the one hand, adorable, sweet, etc. And I know this may seem off topic but I was very impressed with the pictures of her apartment - not many people I know have/had a sense of style like that at her age.

On the other hand… she and those like her make it that much harder for some of us to convince our daughters that they can aspire to be more than a model, a designer of handbags, a creator of lipstick, a clothes horse, arm candy, tan/diet/image-obsessed…

“Tinsley” is really such a bad influence for the little ones. Sigh.

82. charlotte - July 3, 2008

Why are you little children looking at PAP?

83. elle - July 3, 2008

Tinsley really has never looked better than her Virginia Living magazine spread..the pictures were just stunning.

84. Still A Lady - July 5, 2008

Charlotte, get a clue. You obviously don’t have daughters. It’s not about looking at PAP, it’s about knowing too many women in real life who are not giving back, not participating in charities for anything more than a photo shoot, etc. - in short, not doing anything meaningful with their lives. For every Aerin out there, there’s 1000 Tinsleys.

85. imo - July 5, 2008

Still A Lady, my sentiments exactly.

86. charlotte - July 5, 2008

Well, Still A Lady, if you feel that way, you should be using them as an example to teach your daughters how you think they should not be. But honestly, Tinsley uses the PUBLICITY from charity EVENTS, but that doesn’t mean that her heart is in the wrong place, or that she is only going to the glamorous functions and not giving time or money. She is building two businesses, has worked at Vogue (which, if you don’t know, is not an easy job) in the beauty department, then became the ambassador for Dior cosmetics, launched a gloss with some proceeds going to charity (no matter how much of the proceeds go to charity, at least she gave some to it), and is now doing interior design for offices. All while wearing stilettos. I think that’s an excellent example for young girls.

87. elle - July 5, 2008

absolutely! beauty and brains

88. gina - July 6, 2008

Still A Lady, fyi Tinz’s mom is an interior decorator sooo chances are pretty darn good Dale did the apt. I still don’t get what all the fuss about TM is-her mom’s family is nothing to write home about and it’s not like TM was born into some great family for cryin out loud. She MARRIED into one. Big difference ya’ll.

89. 10065 - July 6, 2008

Also remember the Mercers had some money but the Dale Tatum side comes from a total hillbilly part of Virginia and her grandfather was a sheriff. Now that’s what I call breeding!

90. elle - July 6, 2008

I am so sick of looking at people do this… it is spelled Y’ALL, not ya’ll…HELLLOOO!!!! It is a contraction of you and all…did any of “y’all” pass english in school? I don’t think y’all have any room to talk about anyone’s upbringing if you can’t even handle that!

91. Brooke - July 6, 2008

I hope YOU ALL are paying attention

92. Brooke - July 6, 2008

Forgot here is to Grampy Tatum:

I Shot The Sheriff

I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy.
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy.

Elle,

Thanks for reminding me of how to properly spell my slang. Sorry, it wasn’t taught as the Queens’ English at my private school. Brooke, props, that was awsome! 10065, thanks for pointing that out. Also, the ‘tiara’ that Tinz wore for her wedding was actually a necklace that was rigged to stay in her hair that was borrowed from a small shop in Richmond.

94. elle - July 6, 2008

gina,

You are so welcome! Is it not wonderful to know how to properly use contractions. Enlightening, is it not? I am always here for a grammar lesson if need be!
xoxo,
elle

95. grace - July 6, 2008

Gina, I think you meant awesome, haha. I thought they even taught these things in public schools.

96. elle - July 6, 2008

Haha, yes.

97. Luca - July 6, 2008

True story: surprised no one has ever mentioned this or known this, but mama D bought T’s engagement ring for her, because she was rather anxious to finalize the deal already and it didn’t seem to be happening as soon as she wanted. Absolutely 100 percent true.

98. PansyAston - July 7, 2008

Thank you, elle! I have to correct usurpers of y’all all over the internet. Y’all are welcome to Southern, just spell and use it correctly.

I saw pix of TRMM’s flat briefly; it was pretty and personal, as opposed to the ubiquitous UES “look”. As for HER look, it’s time to update~~~but hey, if ain’t broke……

As for granddad the sheriff, you prefer a bootlegger? I do hope TRMM is not as snobbish as some in the PAP neighborhood.

99. Virginian2 - July 7, 2008

Luca, what are you talking about? She bought an engagement ring before they eloped the first time?
Somehow that doesn’t “ring” true. And where did she get the gun? I mean, she had to have a gun to put to his head to force him to marry her twice, right?

100. Virginian2 - July 7, 2008

And Elle, thank you. I can understand how our northern lady friends don’t understand how to spell it but it drives me crazy when stupid “southerners” don’t get it right.

101. Luca - July 7, 2008

No Virginian the second time. There had been much tumult in the relationship since elopement #1. She went away for an entire summer to Europe alone a couple years before that because he had been rampantly cheating on her and she was convinced it was over. Nothing was set in “stone.”. You can believe me or not but its totally true.

102. Virginian2 - July 7, 2008

I have no way of knowing if this is true or not. I’m just curious as to how the mom bought a ring and forced a marriage. And, if this guy was rampantly cheating on her daughter, why would any mother do that?

Like a lot of gossip, it sounds like there might be a bit of truth to the story and then it got blown out of proportion with the re-tellings. Really…does it make any sense to you?

103. Still A Lady - July 7, 2008

Charlotte, please re-read your own words…

“But honestly, Tinsley uses the PUBLICITY from charity EVENTS, but that doesn’t mean that her heart is in the wrong place, or that she is only going to the glamorous functions and not giving time or money. All while wearing stilettos.”

…and then tell me if you type too quickly to think properly first or if you actually wrote these words while trying to defend Tinsley’s priorities, her focus in life, and her efforts to “give back”. Because telling me that Tinsley worked in the beauty dept. at Vogue, as the “beauty ambassador” (snort) for Dior, and allegedly gives a portion of the profits from Barbie pink lipstick to charity is not only failing to change my opinion on the matter, but is precisely the kind of ludicrous rationalization that I’m trying to keep my daughters from learning from losers like yourself, thank you very much.

104. elle - July 7, 2008

I’m glad other people understand by plight of grammar! I wasn’t trying to be mean, seriously! It just bugs me so much when people do that (even people that went to my private school), especially those, like me, that live in the south.

105. charlotte - July 7, 2008

Still A Lady,
YOU should think rationally! Do you really think that the people that are benefitting from her charity work really give a rip what her motives truly are. Neither one of us can truly say what her motives are because neither of us know her, but at least she is giving something back!

106. Virginian2 - July 7, 2008

Still a Lady. It seems to me that if you want your daughters to learn the “right” lessons about life, then you probably don’t want them seeing you read a fluffy website about silly, shallow, socialities.

I’m not directing this comment at you but I’m confused about posters who say these women “do nothing”. How do we know they do nothing or contribute nothing? Some people prefer to do their charitable work under the radar or very quietly. Tinsley, Byrdie, Fabiola, etc. aren’t building houses in New Orleans, or dishing up food in a homeless shelter, but that doesn’t mean they contribute nothing. Maybe the money they contribute or raise help the people who are helping others by working in the homeless shelter kitchens or building those houses.

107. Londoner - July 7, 2008

You know, these girls, for the most part, aren’t “philanthropists.” Showbiz celebs have red carpets at clubs and movies and these girls have them at charity balls and galas… all a bit shallow but it is in good fun. The real lady philanthropists are old, stuffy, and far from the glamour level of a Tinsley, Dabney, or Fabiola!

108. Callie - July 7, 2008

Virginian2 there is NOTHING these girls do that is under the radar….

Londoner are you a moron? The “real lady philanthropists” are thriving ANONYMOUSLY. Any one with an ounce of civility or decorum is grateful for what they have and gives in private.

109. Luca - July 7, 2008

Virginia2 that may not be my values or apparently yours, thank goodness. But a lot of these women are willing to overlook their man’s indiscretions of it means a name and access to a certain life they would never have had. We would not be talking about Tinsley right now had she not snagged a Mortimer. So, for her, it is totally worth it even if he cheats.

Also, sure, a ring is not a gun to someone’s head, but neither is getting knocked up, and, as we see through the Villencys and others, that pretty much results in marriage.

110. Still A Lady - July 7, 2008

Thank you Callie… well said.

p.s., Charlotte, as long as you’re bringing Byrdie into this discussion, let’s talk about the philanthropic pursuits of our pets too. Mine wore a sweater with a pink ribbon once….

111. Brooke - July 7, 2008

#109 pathetic to me BUT I agree with you - old broads tolerate the bad behavior - TM at her age?? - dump him - they connected at age 16??? Give them both a break if they “stray” - yes she married a name - that can be lonely and disappointing $$$$$

112. charlotte - July 7, 2008

SAL,
It seems like your pet is a better example to your children than you are! I agree with #106, also, about the fluff! I guess, “Do as I say, not as I do,” is the motto in your home.

113. Still A Lady - July 8, 2008

Sweetheart, if you only knew…

114. charlotte - July 9, 2008

Still A Lady, I say we have a truce because I hate fighting and understand where you are coming from. We are probably more alike than you think because I too believe in women and girls being strong and confident and understanding their self worth. I also believe being beautiful is a state of mind. Though this is a socialite website, we must keep in mind that this is not the real world…these girls make up about less than 1% of the population of the country. So, truce.

115. Still A Lady - July 10, 2008

Yes, okay, sure. Off to post about Rebecca Guinness… :-P
