After an auction preview by Christie’s, Elle Decor hosted a dinner at Bette, as part of their Young Collectors initiative. Socialites, including Zani Gugelmann and Maggie Betts, came to the Amy Sacco-owned establishment hungry after checking out antique wares for their homes. Karen Larrain came fresh, via private jet, from a vacation in Aspen with her friends Tinsley Mortimer and Fabiola Beracasa, and Alex Kramer came that evening on the arm of her boyfriend of several months, Danny Baker.

Maggie just does not know how to dress for her body or how to pose. She’s always doing that weird pursed lip thing. Lydia always looks like she got her outfit from the early 90’s. Maybe she is wearing great clothes, but it’s how she puts her outfits together that causes the problem. Gosh she is quite ambitious though, isn’t she?
I think Zani looks amazing! The hair, dress, body, and SHOES!
I love it! I am probably going to get eaten up for this but Karen also looks great… the dress looks pretty and the shoes (I’m a shoes gal!) are really cute.

Zani - great dress and those shoes are to die for! And Tamzin’s dress is terrific - the kind of dress to have hanging in the closet for a great night out…don’t love the red shoes with the black stockings though.
Lydia - looks great, elegant dress but wrong shoes. And, yes, she is ambitious. The antique biz, particularly in the high end, is very competitive. She seems to handle it all quite well - good for her!
Zani looks gorgeous! I really like Karen’s look… and yes, she is dating Alejandro. I really like the print on Maggie’s silk top, so feminine… knowing these girls, bet it is Miu Miu and was hand painted!

havent seen her look good in quite awhile…her hair is terribly flat, and her forehead is made to look huge by the way she wears her hair.

I ADORE Alex Kramers dress, does anyone know who it’s by? Also, vacationing in Aspen? I will admit, I am terribly jealous. Good for her. Zani’s pose is original if nothing else, it does get tiring to see the girls just standing there plainly all the time.

From what i remember, Karen WAS married and has a child or children. it’s interesting to see how she dumped them and found herself a rich beau. i guess getting hurt at the dvf fashion show a couple of years ago really went to her head. what a shame, and what a social climber.
Looks like they’re all adapting the Tinsley cross-over pose.
God, every one of these pics is so garish with the lighting, it looks like crime scene photography. It looks like snapshots from a tawdry bar. Only Lydia’s pic doesn’t look like the subjects were caught in some devious act: she picked some cute furniture to pose in front of, I guess.
(Ps. I’m developing a weird fondness for pics of Lydia. Dunno why. Maybe i’m rooting for her against all the blonde ‘rexies. )

alex kramer’s dress is by marchesa. they used to have it on neiman marcus.com. dunno if they still have it.
If I recall correctly, Dan Baker Jr has some “aggressive tendencies”….
I totally forgot to add that Ms. Griscom’s husband is NOT a “LI guido.” I believe that he is European and well-educated - certainly NOT a “guido”…and I don’t like using that particular expression but it seems that Ms. Brooke introduced that term in her posting (#25) and I wanted everyone to be able to make the proper reference.
My apologies to all. I do not make a practice of regional/ ethnic slurs in my daily life and certainly don’t mean to on this blog. And I don’t want to add to the pettiness already so prevalent here. Mr. Priano (sp?) is a quite the dish and I’m sure Ms. Griscom knows what she is doing. Mea culpa!

Regarding Nina’s husband, he was first a waiter and then the maitre d’ at La Goulue. He looks like a “guido” because he has a very dark 5 o’clock shadow and his hair is long and slicked back. I don’t see the appeal but he is physically a huge step up from her former boyfriend, Pepe Fanjul. Needless to say, he is also a huge step down in the $$ department.

Couldn’t agree more with # 33 and pizzagirl and that Karen must have the greatest publicist in the world. Re. page six article- Alejandro did not dump Eugenia for her. They split up over a year ago ( god knows why) and Eugenia is now dating a hot Spanish aristocrat. Shame because he’s quite a catch. Either Manhanttan has run out of single attractive women or something’s seriously wrong with him…
