I wouldn’t feel anything like a society chronicler if I didn’t write about the annual masked ball of the Young Fellows of the Frick Collection. It was held the night that I went on spring break and I wanted to include it before moving on to covering other events as it has become such a staple of the Upper East Side social calendar.
The night’s host committee, which included Tinsley Mortimer, Ivanka Trump, Byrdie Bell, Lydia Fenet, and Coralie Charriol Paul, was dressed by Elie Saab, one of the night’s sponsors. Ivanka’s namesake company, another sponsor, jeweled her fellow event planners and Lydia hosted a midnight breakfast after-party at a nearby Park Avenue townhouse.
Tinsley and Ivanka will be seeing even more of each other in the future. Tinsley is getting her own office at Trump Tower as she takes on her new position of lifestyle director of B+B Investment Group, the New York real estate firm. She will be advising the company’s principals about branding and marketing their new developments, as well as planning their luxury buildings’ interiors.
Chessy Wilson came on the arm of her boyfriend, Paul Slater, and Byrdie Bell was without Bingo Gubelmann at this event and at her private 23rd birthday party at Le Royale after it as the couple are said to no longer be an exclusive item.
A stalwart society presence was found in Marina Rust Connor, a founder of the masked ball. Her grandmother, Ruth Pruyn Field, was the first wife of Ogden Phipps, the grandson of Henry Phipps, a partner of Henry Clay Frick’s in the steel business. Marina’s grandfather, the department store heir Marshall Field III, lived in the 740 Park Avenue building, which was just two blocks away from the residence of Frick and would eventually only house his art collection and be the host venue of this very classic gala event.

Wow, Tinsley looks so elegant in that gown! Makes me think of what she might have looked at her own wedding. Byrdie and Serena are stunners here… and I love the color of Stephanie’s dress. What a cute event!

i love that picture of serena merriman… so adorable. this is positively the best i have seen byrdie look. the hair, skin, and dress all work so well together. maybe we will see ivanka in white in the next year or two again hopefully… so happy that the site is back as i am certainly a PAP addict.

I think Tinsley looks great here. The dress is very pretty and feminine. Barbara’s dress is elegant and Tatiana’s black and white gown has a unique structure. Byrdie and Serena look phenom!

Serena is actually the hottest, in my opinion at least. This is such a nice picture and she should have it framed. Hair, face, body, dress… perfect! I still love my Tinsley… she looks pretty and that dress is so her. That is good news about her new office at Trump Tower! Marina seriously has perfect skin. I, too, missed this website terribly and am thrilled to see more posts like this in the future.

I have known Serena M. my entire life and the girl is 100% completely full of herself. I wouldn’t be surprised if she emailed James herself and begged to be included. She probably even sent him the picture.

Tinsley looks great, partly because we can’t see her crossed legs. Ivanka looks fantastic too. She seems to have all the class in her family.
I LOVE Chessy’s eye mask. It’s really Old Regime masked ball- style (like they had in Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette).
Everyone looks absolutely gorgeous here. It certainly helps when some of these ladies are not permitted to dress themselves, eh?

I have also known Serena Merriman my entire life and I’ll say this: She is gorgeous, graceful, and wonderfully caring. Don’t dish on someone just because they got their photo up here and you didn’t (and if you did maybe you should eat some humble pie seeing as how Serena’s picture is getting comments.)
But the internet is a great way for coward’s like you to let your stupid opinions be known. So, have fun surfing the web looking for other beautiful people to hate on. I hope eHarmony works out for you!

I know Serena! To say that she’s anything but sweet and smart is a lie… I am surprised that I haven’t seen her here until now. The best part is that she is even more gorgeous in person. And no, I am not Serena. It is sad that people assume you are the person if you say something really nice!

serena is certainly a jewel. she is friends with kate middleton from secondary school (marlborough). a genuine stunner indeed. glad that my favorite site across the pond is up and going again.
I know Serena M too. She used to be an actress (good one, i hear. not a fake one like some of the other girls on this site) and is now one of the head PR girls at Laforce. She is really beautiful. I also love that dress. Great color.

James, I hope you had a lovely spring break from college! I am very happy that the website is back and running as it was hard for a few days without this lovely little socialite community you’ve created.
Now. Serena Merriman is gorgeous! I do not think it is just the picture or the dress… and she looks absolutely lovely! What a fresh face! I hope that she becomes New York’s next It girl.
Tinsley’s dress is so pretty and delicate. I wasn’t at her wedding but I know from around town that she looked like a princess. I am sure she must have been thinking of her happy day in this dress!

Tinz and Serena knocked it out of the park! Tinz looks very endearing posing like that. Keep it up. One work about Lydia…I’ve come to find out that photos just don’t do her justice. She is extremely put together and feminine in person. Hey, I actually just saw Serena on Thursday night. She is so pretty and so sweet. She was a boarder at Marlborough in England and then went to Brown. Smart girl and all the other girls love her… it’s about time she made her debut on Park Avenue Peerage, which I missed very, very much.
On the whole everyone looks lovely. I do have to agree with #38, papfan re: the whole Serena stir. I would not have noticed or commented on her, but this groundswell of support over a standard picture is somewhat suspicious and/or funny. Furthermore, her arm is pretty chunky, don’t know really what the positive fuss is all about. What is it with Annalise and her hand on the hip pose? It is so ridiculous. Ladies, arms at your sides!
Serena’s new and fresh, that’s why everyone likes her. She’s better than staring at the same girls every time. And about the so called chunky arm? #43 you may have to get your eyes tested or see a therapist because your either blind and/or crazy.
Honestly, new so-called “It Girls” have been popping up, turning heads, and raising ire since Christ was a corporal.

Folks, google Serena and you will find she has been around for a while. Furthermore, in the other pictures on the web, she ain’t anything special. I do think she looks pretty here and I assume it is the looking back over her shoulder pose.

tinsley’s article in page six magazine was ridiculous. some highlights (lowlights?): even though she weighs approximately 95 pounds and must stand with crossed legs like a tripod to keep from teetering over, she is simply “happier” when 10 lbs lighter. aha! tinz ralphs up her dominos bc it brings her joy! also, although she wishes to provide topper some male spawn on which to affix the mortimer name, she thinks he’d be a great father to a daughter bc he is so good with her girl chihuahua. bc, of course, baby girls are a lot like teacup-sized animals. finally, even though she always looks so cute with cute ringlets in her flaxeen hair and cute little-girl-lost outfits, she wouldn’t want us to think her anything but normal. why, THANKS!
re: Serena, I have no idea who the girl is, but we can all agree it’s a well-taken photo– it shows movement and life and looks spontaneous. A lot of the time the pictures on this site (and PmC) look like an exhibit at Madame Tussaud’s.
I think reaction to that article would be right in line with the reader’s previous opinion of Tinsley. Don’t think it would change minds one way or the other, b/c if you like her, you will view the article in that light.
The chihuahua thing was a little silly, but to say that she is unusual b/c she feels better when she is carrying less weight is also silly. Plus, I realize you are trying to be funny, but to “joke” that she makes herself vomit after eating Dominos is unneccessary.
Tinsley listen up —— ALWAYS wear your hair like this ! Do not clip it to the side, it makes the shape of your face look bad.

Tinsley really does look gorgeous here. The makeup and hair are outstanding as usual and the dress lengthens her body really well.
I really like Stephanie and Barbara’s gowns. Barbara continues to impress me every time I see her.
Looking at Serena and reading the comments, I have a feeling that we are looking at the next big socialite! She’s so pretty (and healthy looking!) and anyone who is already this close to Prince William (via Kate) is good in my book and worthy of all of envy!
I personally thought Stephanie’s dress was TO DIE FOR!! That yellow was breathtaking. Tinsley was my second fave- Gorgeous as always. Don’t care about Serena.
For the most part, people here look good except for: the photo of Lydia and the two other girls (and darn it if that Lydia does not try WAY, WAY, WAY, too hard, anyone else agree? ugh!) and, Nicole, because, even though she fancies herself some fashion forward cool chic, she is thin and tan and that is about it.
Serena is in here because, as someone said above, she works at Laforce and Laforce was in charge of dressing some of these ladies. So she had a somewhat important role in this event. That is all. She didn’t “campaign” to get her picture in here. She happens to be very sweet, but she has been around a while and this was her so called moment, it is not like she is on the rise and it is not like we are suddenly going to see much more of her. All the talk about her, positive and negative, is ridiculous. It is a very flattering picture, in person she is pretty and sweet looking, but no one you would look twice at, most likely.
What is sad is that if someone is on PAP for the first time, or not very often, all the vultures on here jump, as we all know what that means: ANOTHER chic that gets on here, that we have to be jealous of now? Its so transparant.

Almost everyone looks great. Dare I say it? Even Lydia is looking halfway decent. Don’t love the dress, but it’s a huge improvement!

Sylvana looks amazingggg! The way in which she dresses just further promotes the fact that she was born to be an accessories editor. Her outfits are always perfectly put together with just the right amount of embelishment.
Tinsley’s dress is very her, yet somewhat refreshing. She is not overly consumed in ruffles and chiffon. The partially streamlined look really works for her.
On another note, what has happened to Annelise?!?!? No one has commented yet, but since leaving Valentino she looks like she has dropped 15 pounds and her dress is ill fitting. It looks a lot like the gowns that my friends wore to their Bat Mitzvah parties 5 years ago.
What happened to Annelise? Tinsley is sweet, Byrdie is sweet albeit cro-magnon, even Lydia is nice but she is always on autopilot and just needs to CHILL, however, Annelise is unequivocally a bitch. Also, the only reason people say she is pretty is because she is 6 feet and overprocessed blonde. When you are that tall you have to watch your weight otherwise you end up looking like Brooke Shields.
I actually found Tinsley’s article refreshing. At least she admits to her body type, she is built bottom heavy like a lot of people I know. She doesn’t pretend to be what she is not, and I know for a fact that she is much happier when she is ordering in and watching bad tv. I like that she doesn’t make pretensions to anything else. In a way, I respect her decision not to have children right away, it shows that she is not THAT desperate for Topper’s money.
Pizza Girl I think you should phrase your comment in the reverse, Tatiana B is actually somewhat important. On the other hand, Tiffany makes Lydia look like a beauty contest winner!
TM looks amazing …I love her dress - I am impressed she is not having the “Mortimer” baby to cement her free ride (whatever is left of that $$) - she can do it on her own - GO TM!!! Unlike her MIL who cemented the Davis and Mortimer family babies for her “ride” - notice you never see pixs of the MIL - why???
The Page Six magazine article left me wondering if it had already jumped the shark with its coverage of ‘it’ girls. Once I got past the shock of Tinz death warmed over look, the article was not very interesting because she is still young and has a full life ahead of her.
The best socialite stories are told in their later years, after they have enjoyed and survived youth, glamour and decadence.
I’ll pay to read hers when the time comes. Until now, keep the pretty pictures coming.
marina needed a different color. instead of making her look ethereal (i’m guessing this was the intended effect), this dress washed her out. it needed someone with a more robust complexion. she’s still lovely, though, and she carries herself with grace and poetry, which that unfortunate pose belies.

Tins looks smashing! I do wish someone - anyone - would give Ms. Bush some help. She has wonderful, natural good looks but…time to cut that hair and wear some makeup. I actually like Nicole Hanley’s (whomever she may be) dress but she looks so unfinished and unpolished…great shoes though!
And please, lay off Serena! Really - envy green is not an attractive color.. And I have to agree with #55 that perhaps Lydia does try a little too hard but we need to remember that she is working, not social climbing!
Meredith’s dress is the most stunning thing I’ve ever seen. She never ceases to impress. Beauty and brains. Stephanie’s dress is lovely as well..i would not have done the red lipstick though. never with yellow. never.

No one has mentioned the similarities between Tinsley’s dress and Ivanka’s. They aren’t the same are they? The material looks different and Tinsley’s looks lighter, but still.

Stephanie’s look was almost okay but a little heavy-handed for spring I think. Just too MUCH. The color is actually okay on her but the beading was over the top.
Ivanka is too Amazonian to pull off the flimsy dress look. She needs more structure.

This was a fun party. The after party was something…when we arrived, Tinsley was leaving solo, while Topper was still going strong inside.
