Fendi sent their favorite American socialites – Tinsley Mortimer, Fabiola Beracasa, Amanda Hearst, Zani Gugelmann, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, and Bettina Zilkha – to China to see the first ever runway presentation on the Great Wall.

On their first night in town, the women had dinner at the Whampoa Club, with fellow socialites from Hong Kong. The four American women who made it were exhausted as they had arrived in China just five hours earlier. Tinsley and Fabiola couldn’t make the dinner because they missed their airplane and had to be booked for a later flight.

The next morning, the American delegation (with everyone now in tow) went on an old Beijing tour of hutongs on rickshaws after breakfast. They then went down to the Guangou valley for the fashion show on the Juyongguan pass of the Great Wall. The crystal lit runway was the world’s longest ever at 200 meters. After the show, where the women were seated next to company executives, they donned their furs and headed over for the after-party at the Village at Sanlitun for champagne and entertainment from national artists.

The women came back to their luxury suites at the Grand Hyatt (where all the guests of Fendi were housed) to pack for the journey back to the States. While half the women caught up on their sleep, Amanda much of her thirteen hours on the flight studying for her Italian Renaissance art history midterm exam today!

Zani………. WOW!

4. Dalton Doll - October 22, 2007

Julia’s lips are better than Angelina Jolie’s IMHO, Zani looks cute, Bettina is so out of place, Tinsley looks so doll-like and genteel in her fur, Amanda looks her age (a good thing), and Fabiola reminds me of a Hollywood leading lady in the 1950s = excellent.

EVERYONE looks GREAT. Love the fur, the chic, the KARL. Love it.

it’s a good thing tinsley enjoyed herself at this event. i can only imagine how she must feel now in the wake of that new york times article about her and her husband where he basically says she’s a numbskull (along with the other socialites) for being famous for going to parties and getting her picture taken…

it’s obvious that they are in love with each other but maybe it has taken topper some time to get used to tinsley being in photos. hey, in my opinion, i think that it is great that she turned his last name into an empire of handbags, clothes, and everything that a girl can dream of.

Julia and Zani are hot. It would be nice if they made a sex tape.

10. pauper's plight - October 22, 2007

i make no judgments about their love, but the article laid bare topper’s old money sensibilities, which clash riotously with his wife’s social-climbing ambitions. i doubt he’s pleased that women he doesn’t know, living in places he’ll never visit, are proudly sporting bags with his name on it — all because of his wife’s efforts…
