Socialites love shiny things. They love free things. And they certainly love Cipriani. It was no surprise that the Nominations moving party on Monday night was what it was: a success. Nominations is an Italian jewelry company that just recently opened its first boutique in the United States, and to celebrate, they selected a handful of people to come to snag a complementary bracelet before making their way to a cocktail reception at the private upstairs club of Cipriani where their gift was their ticket. Our women came in pairs or threesomes to the store before making their way to the restaurant. One adventurous group even got a little sidetracked and took a detour to a bar along the way before coming to Cipriani just a little more than intoxicated.

Some boldfaced names there: Annabel Vartanian, Darcy Jones, Anisha Lakhani, Kristian Laliberte, Lyle Maltz, amongst hosts Byrdie Bell, Rita Crosby, Susan Shin, Nick Raynes, and Olivia Palermo, who came with boyfriend Brad Leinhardt. (The other host, Peter Davis, was at home sick with the flu, though I’m certain he’ll be up and running for the wedding of his sister Minnie Mortimer on Saturday afternoon!) It was at this Nominations event that Byrdie and Olivia caught up with each other after alleged ill spirits between the two.

People were actually antsy about having the two host this party together. Byrdie had either ignored or spoken very little to Olivia at events prior to this; this left Olivia to hang around whoever she brought: her boyfriend, her Quest editor, or her publicist. At Cipriani, their tables were put next to each other. Byrdie arrived first and Olivia came and sat beside her. The two talked for a while, appearing to catch up with each other’s lives before breaking out smiling and laughing with one another. Byrdie left shortly after socializing with others, Olivia by her side during these rounds. They walked out of Cipriani separately for dinner at another downtown establishment.
