Social ladies can’t get enough of Christian Dior. The French house’s gifted designer, John Galliano, came to New York to present his resort collection to them in a special presentation at Gustavino’s. Dior’s two beauty ambassadors, Tinsley Mortimer and actress Charlize Theron, welcomed guests, including Fabiola Beracasa and Olivia Chantecaille, in their own custom Galliano creations. Editors and socialites there couldn’t get enough of the designer and after champagne and small plates post-show at the venue, they hosted two dinners in his honor downtown, one each at Socialista and La Esquina, and toasted him for the umpteenth time that day at the Beatrice Inn.

Tinsley is officially launching her namesake Dior lip gloss, Tinsley Pink, at the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship store this afternoon. The Park Avenue princess will be on the floor there between 2 and 4 PM today to greet customers.

Pronovias, the Spanish bridal house, opened their first boutique in Manhattan with grand social fanfare (literally, the ladies were in such Iberian spirits that they danced with fans). The fashion company is sponsoring the charity’s fall gala and stalwart supporters of the philanthropy, including Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos and Ivanka Trump, made sure to show. Fellow patrons, sisters Tinsley Mortimer and Dabney Mercer, stopped by the festivity after attending the nearby opening of British auctions firm Bonhams.

And speaking of brides, Alexis Bryan just left for Houston for her weekend wedding to Spencer Morgan. Like another recent Texas bride, Jenna Bush, Alexis will don Oscar de la Renta down the aisle under the auspices of her father’s girlfriend, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

There is no greater confluence of socialites, actresses, and the designers that create for them than the Costume Institute Gala of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The players that move the glamour industry arrived in their finest superhero costumes, to reflect the night’s theme, and after being flanked by armies of photographers and cameramen, were led into the museum’s Temple of Dendur for dinner, which was announced, appropriately, by the call of trumpets.

The belle of the ball, Columbia junior Bee Shaffer, took a break from her studies to attend fashion’s grandest gala with her mother, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. The history major is finishing her semester abroad at University College London this month and will stay in the English capital to work until returning to New York City for her senior year at Columbia.

Elettra Rossellini Wiedemann, meanwhile, will be making London her home base soon as she is set to begin graduate coursework at the London School of Economics in the fall.

Ivanka Trump wore the same shade of white as her mother did just a few weeks ago. The real estate heiress and executive came on the arm of her dress’s designer, Gilles Mendel, and met with Jared Kushner at the intimate Nina Ricci gala after-party at Phillipe.

The two hobnobbed with Spencer Morgan and Alexis Bryan there. The intellectual New York Observer and Vanity Fair contributors, respectively, are getting married next Sunday in a private family ceremony in Alexis’s hometown of Houston, Texas.

Georgina Chapman, the designer of Marchesa, was especially happy to see her friend from London, Jemma, Countess of Mornington, and spent time introducing the visiting British make-up artist to her friends.

This is Lauren Bush’s last event until this Saturday’s nuptials of her cousin Jenna Bush and law student Henry Hager. She will be flying to President Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas at the end of the week for the wedding. Family friend Maggie Betts will also be on hand for the Christian ceremony.

The gala’s organizers made it a point to invite Alexandra and Matthew Reeve, the eldest children of America’s original superhero, the late Superman actor Christopher Reeve.
